Biography

Robert Buick fell in love with glass while attending Sheridan College School of Crafts and Design from 1985-1989 where he majored in Glass Blowing. After exploring all facets of working glass Robert focused on fusing and slumping. Striving to cross the boundaries of classical technique Robert truly pushes the limits of this material through his exploration and execution.

For the past 20 years Robert has been creating unique and highly desirable works that demonstrate his expertise and boundless creativity. Robert’s passion for artistic expression and innovation is evident in the most recent fused glass sculptures-in particular the Mosaic Totem and Ice Bowl-which has been a culmination of many years of dedication and experimentation. With an eye for composition, Robert skillfully arranges pieces of glass shards, dichroic, 24 karat gold and cane to create sculptural and two-dimensional works that are carefully balanced and visually pleasing.

Robert’s works have exhibited in galleries and juried art shows throughout North America. Over the course of his career Robert has received numerous awards for his art.
